Find the Fun at the Oklahoma City Zoo and Science Museum. More to see from A to Z! The Zoo features a diverse and fascinating animal and plant collection. The Zoo is a fully accredited member of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA) and the American Association of Museums (AAM). As far a city’s zoos go, this is a nice one. Also located on the same property is Science Museum Oklahoma, formally know as the “ompiplex”. It is also a nice place to take the kids and features many interactive fun exabits and indoor playgrounds. Both of them together make a full day for the kids.
Many of the local adults’ have fond memories of this place as it is also home to Zoo Amphitheater. This was the location for most the major concerts stops for many years, before the new area downtown was built. For a while it was also one of the largest amphitheaters that was completely general admission. That is no fancy paid seating on the front row. The sprit of the Steve Miller Band can still be heard in the whispers of the wind.
In May 2004, the Oklahoma City Zoo was named the third best family-friendly zoo in the nation by Child magazine!
